Wearing correct uniforms helps students identify with St Joseph's Catholic School and reflects pride in their own appearance as well as in the school.
St Joseph's Catholic Primary School has two uniforms — an academic uniform and a sport uniform. All students are required to wear the academic uniform on Mondays and Fridays. All students are required to wear the sports uniform on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Mondays & Fridays: academic uniform
Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays: sports/day uniform
Wearing the school uniform is compulsory. If it is necessary for students to wear clothes other than their school uniform to school, parents must send a note of explanation with a very good reason.
A high standard of behaviour is expected of students wearing their St Joseph's Catholic School uniform in public.
Clean, neat and tidy hair is a requirement of the school uniform and the responsibility of parents and students:
- Extreme hair styles and hair dyes are not acceptable and parents will be asked to remedy their child's hair style if this rule is breached. This includes 'tracks', 'rats tails', 'mullets' and 'mohawks'.
- Students with hair touching their collar must have it tied up at all times. Hair accessories (ties or clips) are to be of school colours (green or gold) or of their natural hair colour.
- Braids shall be natural hair colour and have natural hair colour accessories.
Any hair styles that do not comply with the above but are required for cultural or religious reasons must seek written permission from the School Principal, who will make the final decision about what hairstyle is permitted.
